Geometry
1. Did you study for this Geometry test? If so, what did you do, and for how long? Did your score meet your expectations, exceed your expectations, or fall short?
2. If you were to give yourself a fair mark for this Geometry unit (based upon your understanding, not your test score), what would you give yourself and why?
3. Which concepts in this unit were the most difficult to understand? What made these concepts more difficult? What could you have done (or your teacher) to better understand these topics?
Classroom
1. Do you feel challenged in this class? If so, what makes the class challenging? If not, what could be done differently to challenge you?
2. Do you feel supported in this class? What are some things the teacher does well in teaching or supporting you? What are some things the teacher does not do as well and could improve upon?
3. Are you performing to your expectation thus far in Grade 8? Why or why not? What could you do differently to improve your understanding in Mathematics?
4. Next unit: Linear Functions (Algebra)! Set at least one goal for next term. This goal may not be about test scores or grades.
Geometry and classroom reflection
ReplyDeleteYes, I did study for the Geometry test on Saturday and on Sunday. My mum used the textbook and she made me do questions for usually an hour. My score meet my expectations as I found this topic harder than the Pythagoras unit.
2. If I were to give myself a mark for this unit I would have given myself a 4-5 as I understand most of the unit, but I did not understand everything at the end of the unit ( tangents…etc).
3. Some of the concepts that were hard for me to grasp was Tangents and circle theorem as I had never seen these before so it was new to me. I think I could have asked my mum for help with this or I could have set myself a few questions to do.
Classroom
I do feel challenged in this class, I think that what makes this class challenging is that there are some new topics that I have not learnt about or heard about.
2. I do feel supported in this class. Some of the things that the teacher does well supporting me is that if I raise my hand he will come and help me to understand it better.
3. I am performing to my expectations so far in Grade 8. What I could do differently is that if I do not understand something I could do a few questions from the math textbook so that I understand it better
Goal for Linear Functions
My goal for this next unit is to participate more in class and try to put more effort into the work I do.
-Marina Denney 8TDe
1. I studied for the test, i went over the notes in my book for about 15 minutes. My score did not meet my expectations, i thought i was going to get 70% or 80%.
ReplyDelete2. 1-7 a 5/6
3. The algebra part and the words- complementary and co- interior. Maybe more work on it. or revision in class
classroom-
1. I feel slightly challanged in this class. But that's mainly because i'm a slow worker.
2. I don't feel really supported, but the explanations are good
3. Yes, i am performing my expectations. I could spend more time on studying to improve my maths.
Goal for next unit-
to study more for the test and ask for help more frequently.
Yes I studied for the geometry test. I looked over a few questions and then did questions with drawing parallel lines. No, my score did not meet my expectations, I didn’t do as well as I would have hoped.
ReplyDeleteI would give myself a six, because I understand the subject very well but I didn’t do as well on the test.
I found the proof of questions the most difficult to understand because the method changed for different shapes.
Classroom
I don’t feel challenged, but on certain aspects I find it hard to understand. I think maybe stop the repetition of questions or for example algebra, otherwise I tend to slack off.
I feel supported in class. The teachers prepares us for test very well, through making checklists and set problems or worksheets. He also has stuffed planned very well.
I am definitely performing well thus far in grade 8. I am performing so much better than I was last year.
4. Really trying to understand the concept of algebra and reading the test question well.
Geometry
ReplyDelete1. I didn’t study a lot for this test because I have a pretty good understanding of geometry. I just quick revise on my book then I looked up circle theorems to practice because I heard it was going to be on the test. I spent 10 minutes reading and practicing then I was done. I think the score met my expectations but if I had tried harder on the circle theorems and actually practiced the proof then part 3 would have met my expectations but overall good.
2. I would give myself a 6 because I have a good understanding of the whole unite, but I am not sure on the circle theorems. Even though we didn’t learn about it, we still did it for one lesson. I wouldn’t give my self a 7 if I didn’t get it on the test itself.
3. I found the proof and circle theorems the hardest part of this unit because how we prove it and all those circle theorems are hard to understand in one lesson. It was hard to comprehend. I could have practiced these concepts more at home to get a better understanding.
Classroom
1. I don’t feel challenged as much, but sometimes I feel challenged because there are some silly mistakes I forget or simple mathematics I mess up. And all the repetition of the algebra makes me slack off on it then I mess up. It is balanced out between being challenged and not being challenged.
2. I feel supported in this class by the teacher and my peers. The teacher prepares everyone for the test really well. I think he does it in two ways fun activities and work.I don’t think the teacher does anything bad. He is a really good teacher.
3. I think I am performing really well thus far in grade 8. I am doing really well with the tests, unlike last year I was doing worse. I have improved in a matter of a year.
4. To focus more on every little thing because that lesson we did the cyclic quads I wasn’t focusing as much which lost me marks on the test.
I studied for the test for around 30 minutes each night one week leading up to the night. I feel that I fell short on part three and that I could have improved on it by studying a little bit more on cyclic quadrilaterals and tangents/pythagarous.
ReplyDeleteI would give myself a six out of seven because I understand a lot of he material we worked on in class. I also feel that my effort in class is quite high but I could improve on my organization of my worksheets and in my book.
The most difficult concepts for me to understand were Tangents and cyclic quadalterals because we studied them late into the unit and I feel to improve in these two areas I could have studied a bit harder in these two areas.
I do feel challenged in the class but not to much because we get enough homework that it’s not to little but also an accomplishable class. I also feel challenged in class because the work that we do is quite challenging but again not to much.
I feel supported in the class in the sense that Mr.Jobe is willing to help you go through a problem so that you better understand it as a class and as an individual.
I feel that I am performing to my expectations in grade 8 as a whole because I am accomplishing all the tasks set by my teachers. To improve my understanding in math I fell I should study more in the topic that we are currently studying.
In the next unit I want to gain a further understanding of Algebra and improve my grade on my report card by focusing more in class before the end of the unit.
Geometry and class room reflection
ReplyDeleteYes I did study for 30 minutes for one week before the test going over my notes and doing some equations out of the book, I think I rushed it bit so I did not exceed my expectations
I think my fair mark based on my understanding would be around 75-80% as I still get confused if co-interor ad up to 180 or if it equals the same and also I am the same with corresponding
All the words and the different angles, the amount of ways we could do it confused me as I did not really get it and did not know how to do it but I guess I could have asked the teacher for help but I did not want to as I thought it would not be right
In this class I feel challenged at some points but at other points I can sail smoothly and I get how to do everything and how to do things.
I feel very supported in this class as I like how Mr Jobe walks around to make sure everyone is on task and make sure no one is doing it wrong and if so how helps them, He mixes everything up so we get a bit of everything and what to do and I like the way he does it with out warning us.
I feel like I am as last year my grades where much worse it is because he helps with everything and is always there for me and will always help with anything and whatever we want.

Geometry
ReplyDeleteI did study for the test. I went over the notes that we got in class and practicing with GSP. I did this for 30 mins every 3 days. I think I fell short with my test score.
I would give myself a 6 because I can fully understand key vocabulary, know most of the equations for solving things like the sum of interior angles.
I did not find anything particularly confusing regarding geometry.
Classroom
I think this class can be challenging at times but at others it can be easy because were doing problems that are easy for me to solve.
I think I’m feel supported in this class. Things the teacher does well would be explaining things and working with students at our own paces. He could improve on getting us to revise more.
I think I am performing at my expectations in Grade 8 because I am not falling behind on any subjects and I am managing to keep up with work even though I miss some lessons.
My goal is to revise more using notes and manga high.
Geometry
ReplyDeleteI did study for this test but only a bit. I completed one worksheet called “angles and polygons” for 15 minutes but that was it. Surprisingly, my test score exceeded my expectations even though I didn’t revise that much.
I would give myself a 7/10 because even though I did well on parts 1 and 2, I wasn’t able to complete most of the questions, I just attempted some of them
I think that the most difficult concept to understand was the cyclic quadrilaterals because we didn’t have that much time to go over them and they could sometimes be confusing. I think that before the test I should have looked over them a bit more.
Classroom
I feel challenged in this class because for a lot of the topics we covered (such as pythagorus) I wasn’t familiar with.
I feel supported in this class. I think that my teacher explains everything with clarity. One thing he could improve on could be covering everything equally because for the cyclic quadrilaterals it felt like we rushed through it.
I think that I am meeting my expectations so far in grade 8. One thing I could do to improve on is revising for tests because I think that I could’ve gotten an even better grade for my test if I had revised.
1.I didn’t study
ReplyDelete2. I think that I would give my self a 5 in geometry because I understand most things but I found part 3 hard
3. I think that the most difficult things were this quadrilateral in the circle because I was not paying attention when you went over it so I did not get it.
4.I feel a bit challenged in this class I think that the part the is hard but part one and part two are not that hard.
5.I feel supported in this class because somethings that I think that you do well is helping use do class work, I think that you could go over part three a bit more before the test.
6.I think that I could do better so far in grade 8 because I could look over me notes before the test. I think that the lesson before the test he could could thought with us what will be on the test.
7.I think that in the next unit I could aim for a 6, I will do this by revising for the test.
Geometry
ReplyDelete1) If I had to be honest, I didn’t study for this test much, and I feel like it really affected my grades because of it. I feel like I fell short quite a bit in this test.
2) If I had to give myself a fair mark, it would be a 5 - 6, although I feel like next time I should try the extension more.
3) I think a hard concept for me to understand was the cyclic quadrilaterals, mainly because I forgot most of them before the test. I think I could of improved my score for the 3rd part by studying them more.
Classroom
1) In this class I feel comfortable. I don't always feel challenged, yet sometimes I do. I think that the main way to challenge me more is to introduce more things.
2) I do feel supported and comfortable to ask questions. I feel like the main reason I’m not afraid to ask questions is because Mr. Jobe isn’t very strict, so it doesn't matter if I get something wrong.
3) I feel like I need to perform to a higher expectation for next unit’s test, as I feel like I could do a lot better.
4) I think next unit I should revise the things we learn, and study for the test.
Did you study for this Geometry test? If so, what did you do, and for how long? Did your score meet your expectations, exceed your expectations, or fall short?
ReplyDeleteI studied for about 30 mins on the Wednesday night before the test. I read over my notes and did a few practice questions. My score just fell short of my expectations.
2. If you were to give yourself a fair mark for this Geometry unit (based upon your understanding, not your test score), what would you give yourself and why?
I think that I would give myself a 6. I think this because I know all the work and can understand it but I didn’t show it on the test.
3. Which concepts in this unit were the most difficult to understand? What made these concepts more difficult? What could you have done (or your teacher) to better understand these topics?
I found the cyclic quads and the tangents the hardest as I did not understand them and we didn't spend much time looking over it and learning it.
Classroom
Do you feel challenged in this class? If so, what makes the class challenging? If not, what could be done differently to challenge you?
I find this class just right. I think this because I occasionally feel challenged in this class but sometimes it is easy. One thing that could make this class more challenging is that we could look at part 3 types of questions and not just part 1 and 2.
2. Do you feel supported in this class? What are some things the teacher does well in teaching or supporting you? What are some things the teacher does not do as well and could improve upon?
I feel supported in this math class because Mr Jobe is very approachable and is always willing to help and explains the problem to you. Also he explains things well so that we can understand them without him going over things lots of times.
3. Are you performing to your expectation thus far in Grade 8? Why or why not? What could you do differently to improve your understanding in Mathematics?
I am performing to my expectations in grade 8 because my grades have already improved from what they were last year and I feel that I have learnt and understood a lot more then I did last year.
4. Next unit: Linear Functions (Algebra)! Set at least one goal for next term. This goal may not be about test scores or grades.
My goal for the next unit is to do my work to a higher standard and take more time.
Yes I did. But I think if I looked overall the methods and learnt them a bit better. then I would have got a much better mark. I studied for about 20-30 minutes of going through questions I had done in worksheets for homework.
ReplyDeleteI think if I had to grade myself of my understandings of this unit I would give myself a 5+ mainly because I understand most of the unit but I have a slight difficulty putting tmy knowledge into action.
I think the most complicated aspect of the unit was trying to remember all the different techniques and methods to get to your answer and remembering which method is supposed to be used for which shape or rule.
I don’t feel too challenged in this class but I think it is a comfortable pace and it is easy to learn in this class if we are going at this pace. It is fun to push your limits too sometimes
I feel supported in that everything I am not confident with will be solved so I am not nervous about taking a test anytime.
I think I am performing at my expectations and expectations of grade 8 because I contribute to most lessons and try to understand everything I can. And if I don't understand something then I can pick it up easily.
My goal of this unit is to be better in understanding all the techniques so that I will be even more confident about questions.
